Kevin Sharkey was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1961 and has been a full-time outsider artist since 1992 after releasing his creative art to the world for the first time at the age of 38, becoming one of Ireland’s most prolific and successful artists. Following a truly fascinating rags to riches story during the era of the "Celtic Tiger" economy in Ireland from the 1990's Sharkey exhibited and sold over 15 million euros of contemporary art worldwide.

Creating large bold colourful paintings in an original contemporary style Sharkey sold over 10,000 paintings worldwide and includes super model Kate Moss amongst his celebrity art collectors with many supporting Sharkey's contemporary art journey from the world of business, finance, politics, art, media, fashion and music into the 21st century.

Sharkey was voted “Irelands most collectable artist” by The Sunday Tribune in Ireland's media and has been called “A true Irish legend” by The Irish Independent. The Irish Times Money section urged its readers to “Bank on this artist”. Sharkey went on to produce sell out art exhibitions in Dublin, London, Ibiza, Amsterdam and New York.

In 2007, Sharkey's "What Colour Are Kisses?" exhibition sold out completely within 48 hours. "Viola" 2007 (above) was then priced at 4,200 euros (label verso).

Sharkey's original oil painting "Roisin" raised 26,100 euros in 2008 for People in Need in the RTÉ Telethon in Ireland.
