Sarah Beckett is an international award-winning British-born artist / poet residing in Trinidad, West Indies, who has become a national treasure. This original work of art was exhibited at Christopher Hull Gallery, Motcombe Street, Belgravia, London No.23/1985 (see label verso).

Hull was described by The Times, London newspaper as a "freewheeling tipster who turned art dealer with a lifelong enthusiasm for 20th-century British painters. If London art dealers of the senior generation could be divided into the hard-nosed and the eccentric, Christopher Hull came in the second category" - The Times, Wednesday 02 May 2007.

Christopher Hull, art dealer and racing tipster, was born on December 19, 1927. He was enthusiastic about the next generation, the so-called Neo-Romantics of the 1940s, especially Michael Ayrton and John Craxton.

Christopher Hull closed his last gallery in 1998, mainly because of increasing ill-health, but also because the little art enclave in Motcomb Street, Belgravia, London, which he had helped to set up, was at last succumbing to the encroaching tide of boutiquerie.

Christopher Hull died on April 9, 2007, aged 79.

"Anchored in the physical reality of my life, the work grows out of what stands before my eyes to span the distances between the pure abstraction of light and the vivid silences of scarlet, viridian, cerulean…" - Sarah Beckett.
    .

"Everywhere I turn I am breathing rain, drinking light/ on this island sailing between sea and sky/ The world leans towards me and I enter a house that stands in my heart/ perfumed with the green psalms of earth/ a blue calm arced over Bois Cano and birdsong...” - Sarah Beckett.
